HVAC in Lolo, MT

Where Highway 93 meets the road up Lolo Creek, between Missoula and the Bitterroot.

Lolo is mostly newer subdivisions on the flats, with older homes and acreage up Lolo Creek toward the pass. Much of the housing is from the last few decades, which means forced-air gas furnaces that may already be on a second replacement, and AC units added later that may or may not match the furnace they sit on.

Lolo also knows smoke. The 2017 Lolo Peak Fire burned in the mountains west of town, and summer smoke is part of life here. Up the creek, homes farther from the gas main often run propane, wood or electric heat.

Common Osprey jobs in Lolo

What matters in Lolo

Three things to know.

01

Matched systems

When the furnace and AC were bought years apart, replacing them together is often the better value. Osprey will lay out both options.

02

Propane up the creek

Homes beyond the gas main frequently run propane. A heat pump can carry much of the season and cut propane use.

03

Smoke season

Tight houses, good filters and a system that can push air through them.

Lolo questions

Local answers.

Does Osprey Heating & Air serve Lolo?

Yes. Lolo is part of Osprey’s listed service area, just south of Missoula. Call (406) 218-6984.

Is a heat pump worth it if I heat with propane?

Often, yes. Propane is usually one of the more expensive ways to heat a home, and a cold-climate heat pump can carry much of the heating season, with the propane furnace taking over on the coldest nights. Osprey can run through the trade-offs for your house.

Should I replace my furnace and AC at the same time?

If both are old, usually. The indoor coil sits on the furnace, so replacing both at once lets the system be matched and sized together, often for less than doing them a few years apart. If one is young and healthy, there’s no need.
